Lynn ~
With community planning funding from MADPH, Project Cope of Lynn brought a
large coalition together which undertook a year long process using the trainings
and materials of Communities That Care (CTC). The Lynn CTC initiative has
resulted in a comprehensive plan to address substance abuse prevention which
includes using environmental strategies to address underage drinking. Contact
Wendy Kent or
Sally Manninen for
more info.
Medford Health Matters ~
Medford Health Matters
(MHM) is working to make Medford, MA
a healthier community for all those who live, learn, play and work in the city.
There are three task forces that focus on Environmental Health, Social-Emotional
Well-Being and Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. The Environmental Health task
force looks at ways to incorporate concerns relating to the environment into a
healthy living lifestyle. The Social Emotional Well-Being task force is geared
towards ensuring that those who need help with depression, anxiety or other
emotional disorders have access to information and treatment. The Youth
Substance Abuse Prevention task force, with the support of a 5-year federal Drug
Free Communities grant, is geared towards decreasing alcohol and drug use and
addiction within the city of Medford. For more information about Medford Health
Matters, visit their website

work of the Youth Commission and the city's new Youth Services Department and
Director. Contact
